Before
AfterThe apartment problem
Apartments are a tighter fit
than most blinds account for.
Apartment windows rarely make it easy. The reveal can be shallow. There are big tilt-and-turn handles, sliding panels that need clearance, thick architraves. The streetlight or the neighbour's balcony light sits close, and an east or west window catches the sun hard and early. Then there's the question of drilling, body-corporate rules, and what a rental agreement allows. Most off-the-shelf blinds aren't made with any of that in mind. A MAB system is measured and custom-made to the actual opening — and the team checks the window will work before anything is ordered.
- Shallow reveals, chunky handles and sliding panels get in the way of off-the-shelf blinds.
- Standard blockout blinds cover the glass and leave all four edges glowing.
- Streetlights, signage and a neighbour's balcony light sit close — and never really switch off.
- East and west windows catch the sun hard and early.
- Drilling, body-corporate rules and rental agreements make every change a question.
Watch the apartment actually go dark.
No dimmer. No mood lighting. The same window in the same room — open, then sealed. Drop the blind, kill the light.
Built around the window, made to fit the opening.
Most blinds just cover the glass. The MAB system frames the whole window — and because every system is custom-made to the opening, it can be sized to a shallow reveal, an odd shape, or a window with a handle in the way.

Close the side gaps city light finds.

Apartment scenarios
Close quarters, properly dark.
Renters and owners, studios and high-rises — the challenges repeat: light that sits close, reveals that run shallow, and rules about what you're allowed to change. The system is made for exactly that.
- High-rise sunrises
An east-facing window ten floors up catches the sun hard and early. The sealed edges keep it out until you're ready.
- City light, sealed out
Streetlights, signage and the neighbour's balcony light all sit close. Closing the four edges keeps them outside.
- Renting? DIY is the simpler path
You control the timing, the kit ships Australia-wide, and setup support is included if you want a hand.
- No chains against the glass
Cordless and motorised — no chains rattling on the window, no cords in a tight bedroom.
- Sheer by day, blackout by night
Pair a sheer in a dual system for daytime privacy with a view, and full dark when you want it.
- Remote or scheduled
Run it from the remote, or add SmartHub for app, voice and scheduled control.
The system mounts inside the reveal, so nothing changes on the outside of the building — but check your own strata or rental rules before you order; approval stays yours to confirm.
Quick answers.
- The MAB framed system is designed to cut the light leaks that standard roller and blockout blinds leave around the sides, top and bottom of the window. Whether the result feels like total darkness depends on your window, the reveal depth, and how carefully it's measured and installed. Most customers find it far darker than anything they've used before. Use the window suitability guide before ordering to confirm the system will work for your window.
- It depends on reveal depth, width, height and any obstructions like handles, winders or locks. As a guide: a single blackout system usually needs at least 70 mm of reveal depth at the top, with 30 mm side clearance and 20 mm at the front edge. Dual systems usually need at least 90 mm. Widths run 530–3,000 mm and heights run 300–3,000 mm. If you're unsure, use the Window Suitability guide or send us a photo and we'll confirm before you order.
- Those can affect whether the blind and side tracks fit. Photograph where they sit and send the photos to support@midnightanytimeblinds.com.au before ordering. We'll tell you whether they create an obstruction or whether there's clearance to work around them. Sometimes a custom configuration works; sometimes an outside-reveal mount or a different product is a better fit.
- Yes. DIY kits ship Australia-wide and include the motorised blind, the frame components (pelmet, side tracks, bottom rail), the rechargeable motor, a charging cable, fixings and a setup guide. Most customers find the install straightforward with two hand tools and a second pair of hands. Before ordering, work through the Window Suitability guide and the Measuring Guide.
- Standard MAB installs use 30 mm 6-gauge screws into the window reveal, the same fixings used for most internal blind systems. On plasterboard, the screws need to bite into something solid: a stud or a wall anchor. On masonry, use a masonry bit. The Installation Guide walks through the prep. If you have a non-standard wall type (very old plaster, hollow brick, fibro), email a photo to support@midnightanytimeblinds.com.au before ordering and we'll tell you what fixings you'll need.
Adelaide & Perth customers benefit from our Salisbury Plains & Bibra Lake facility with faster turnaround times, personalised service, and top-quality locally crafted blinds.

What our customers say.
“Highly recommended. Fair pricing, excellent customer service and fantastic product.”
“Very easy to install and they look amazing. We have just ordered more for our other bedrooms. A++”
“I first got in touch with John, who clearly explained all the details and was extremely professional. The blinds arrived after a few weeks, and converting my existing blinds to motorised ones was incredibly easy. The rail quality is excellent, and everything works perfectly — no light coming through at all. He also provides aftercare service which I thought was good.”
“John at Midnight Anytime Blinds was great — really happy with the customer service provided and the blinds are awesome. We're ordering more for other bedrooms we love them so much.”
“Great product, great service. From phone call to install only a week and a half. We would highly recommend MAB for service and quality. Best product to turn day into night.”
“Easy install, quick delivery and awesome customer service. Nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend this product and company.”

Apartment windows vary — check the fit first.
A single blackout blind generally needs around 70 mm of reveal depth at the top, or about 90 mm for a dual sheer-and-blackout setup, plus roughly 30 mm of side clearance and 20 mm at the front. Apartment windows are where this matters most: shallow reveals, tilt-and-turn frames, big handles and sliding panels all affect the fit. If you're not sure, send a photo with rough measurements and the team will confirm what works — and will tell you honestly if it doesn't.
