Reveal Fit
How to measure your windows.
Three quick measurements get the fit right: depth, width and height. Always measure the reveal — the inside of the window opening — against the solid frame, not against rubber seals or trim.
Step 1
Check the reveal depth of the window
Before measuring, make sure your window has enough space for the blind, pelmet and side tracks to fit properly inside the reveal.
- Single blinds require 70mm depth at the top
- Dual blinds require 90mm depth at the top
- 30mm clearance along both sides at the front
- 20mm clearance at the front edge
Step 2
Check the width of the window
Measure the internal width of your window from side to side, inside the reveal. Take three measurements — one at the top, one in the middle and one at the bottom. The top measurement is the most important, as that's where the blind sits.
- All three measurements check for squareness
- If there's more than a 10mm difference between them, let us know
- Measure along the front edge of the reveal — that's where the blind will be fitted
- Always measure against the solid frame, not against rubber seals or trim
Step 3
Check the height of the window
Measure the internal height from the top of the reveal to the bottom. Take three measurements — left, centre and right. We use the longest to make sure the side tracks aren't too short, and check for any major variation.
- Measure from the very top inside edge to the bottom ledge inside the reveal
- Avoid including skirting or trim outside the frame
- If your three readings vary by more than 10mm, contact DIY support before ordering
20mm clearance from the front of the reveal.
The blind, side tracks and pelmet need clean space inside the reveal. Check for any of these common obstructions before you commit to the order — if you see them in your window, send us a photo and we'll confirm whether the system still fits.

Six quick things to remember. They’re the difference between a fit that drops in clean and one that doesn’t.
Label your measurements clearly
Width first, then height. Don't get them mixed up later — every blind is custom-made to your exact numbers.
Only send us the exact numbers we ask for
No need to make any adjustments — we custom-make your blinds to suit. Subtract nothing, add nothing.
For recess-fit blinds, we take care of the small deductions
The fabric width will be slightly narrower than your measurement to allow room for the hardware. We handle that on our end.
For face-fit roller blinds, we make to your exact measurement
If there's a wall, tile or trim close to the frame, check with us first before ordering so we can flag any fit conflicts.
Measure every window, even if they look the same
Small differences can make a big impact on the final fit. A 5mm variance you didn't catch turns into a 5mm light leak.

Common questions
More on getting the six numbers right
- Small variance — under 10mm across the three width readings — is normal and the system handles it. More than 10mm and the fit gets compromised. Stop and call DIY support on 08 8359 5935 before ordering so we can talk through the options.
- Note the size and position of every obstruction. Some can be worked around with packers behind brackets, some need a face-mount instead of a reveal-mount, and some make the window unsuitable. The fastest path is to send photos and dimensions before you order.
- Measure inside the reveal. The MAB system is reveal-mounted by default — side tracks and pelmet sit inside the opening, not on the wall in front of it. If your window doesn't have enough reveal depth, face-mount is an option that needs confirming with us before you order.
- Standard sizing tops out at 3000mm width and 3000mm height. Beyond that needs a custom quote — contact MAB on 08 8359 5935 with your dimensions and we'll work out what's possible.
- Yes. For DIY orders, send a face-on photo of the window plus close-ups of any corners or obstructions, along with your six measurements. We'll sanity-check before you commit. Use the suitability form to send them through.
