Will the system fit your window?
Reveal depth, obstructions and frame type all affect fit. Run through the checklist before measuring — saves time and reduces ordering risk.
The short answer
The motorised blackout system is reveal-mounted by default. It needs at least 70mm of reveal depth for a single blackout blind, or 90mm for a dual blind system, into a solid, roughly square frame.
If your reveal is shallower, your window is out of square, or you have obstructions inside the reveal (handles, locks, mullions, tiles), send us photos before ordering. There are usually options, they just need confirming first.

Window suitability checklist

Reveal depth
Measure how deep the window reveal goes from the front edge to the glass. 70mm minimum for single blind, 90mm minimum for dual blind. Less than that, contact us before ordering.

Window squareness
Measure width at top, middle and bottom of the reveal. If those measurements vary by more than 10mm, your window may not be square enough for a standard fit — contact us.

Obstructions
Anything inside the reveal — window winders, locks, latches, handles, vertical mullions, internal trim — affects fit. Note their position and size.

Mount surface
Brackets need a solid mounting surface. Plasterboard alone isn't enough — there needs to be something solid behind it (frame, stud, or solid render).

Power for motor
The motor is rechargeable (USB-C). You don't need power at the window. Charging happens periodically — the cable plugs into a normal USB charger.
Common situations
Some specific cases
Apartment windows
Often suitable, but body corporate rules vary. Check whether your building allows interior installation that requires drilling into the reveal.
Sliding doors
Sliding glass doors can work but need a different mount approach. The free measure visit (install pathway) or photo suitability check (DIY) confirms.
Bay windows
Each section of the bay typically gets its own blind. Confirm angles and corner details before ordering DIY — usually easier with a measure visit.
Skylights and odd shapes
Generally not suitable for this product. We focus on standard vertical windows with rectangular openings.

The blind, side tracks and pelmet need clean space inside the reveal. Check for any of these common obstructions before you commit to the order — if you see them in your window, send us a photo and we'll confirm whether the system still fits.

Awkward windows, options, and what to send us
- There are face-mount options that don't require deep reveal, but they need confirming. Send photos of your window and reveal depth — we'll tell you what's possible.
- Standard sizing tops out at 3000mm width and 3000mm height — see full specifications. Larger sizes require a custom quote — contact us with your dimensions.
- A small amount of out-of-square (under 10mm width variance) is fine — we work to the longest measurement. See the measuring guide for technique. Anything more than that, send photos before ordering.
- Yes. Send window photos and your notes through the fit check form and we'll confirm suitability before you order. Prefer someone to look in person? Book a free measure and quote.
- The Transforma blackout frame system retrofits over existing roller blinds. It uses the same side track + pelmet approach but works with your current blind. Suitability depends on the existing blind type.
- Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Tile on a solid mortar bed is usually drillable with a masonry bit; tile over plasterboard isn't a viable mount. If you're unsure, send a close-up photo of the reveal corners and we'll tell you what to expect before you commit to the order.
