Shipping and delivery for DIY kits
How DIY blackout blind kits are shipped, what to expect on arrival and what to do if something isn't right.
The short answer
DIY blackout blind kits ship Australia-wide via courier. Dispatch timing depends on the production queue and the specific product — these are made-to-measure, so they aren’t sitting on a shelf ready to post.
We confirm timing at order. We don’t promise exact delivery dates upfront because manufacturing makes timing variable. Once your kit dispatches, you’ll get tracking and a clearer window for arrival.
What happens after you order
From order to install-ready
- 01
Order confirmation
Once you place the order, you'll get a confirmation email with your order number and the spec you ordered. Check the measurements — these are made-to-measure, so the spec on this email is what gets built.
- 02
Manufacturing
Your kit is built to your dimensions. Timing depends on the current production queue and the product — we confirm the expected window at order. We won't dispatch until everything in the kit is ready.
- 03
Dispatch and tracking
When the kit ships, you'll get a dispatch notification with tracking details. From dispatch to delivery depends on the courier and your location.
- 04
Delivery
The kit arrives via courier. The motor, tracks and pelmet come in long packaging — someone needs to be there to receive it, or organise a safe drop location with the courier.
- 05
Check on arrival
Before you stash it away, open the carton, check the contents against your order, and inspect for any transit damage. Flag issues straight away — same-day reporting is the strongest position.
Make delivery painless
A few things to know
Be home for the delivery
The motor, tracks and pelmet come in long packaging that won't fit in a standard letter slot. If you can't be home, set up an authority-to-leave or a delivery to a workplace where someone can receive it.
Check the contents on arrival
Open the carton and run through the kit list. Tracks, pelmet, motor, brackets, screws, remote, instructions — if anything's missing, call us straight away. It's much easier to resolve before you start installing.
Store flat if you can't install straight away
Keep the kit flat, off the floor and out of direct heat or sunlight. Don't store anything heavy on top of the box — the tracks are aluminium and the fabric is rolled.
Photograph any carton damage before opening
If the carton turns up scuffed, crushed or with a corner caved in, take photos before opening. If there's damage inside, those photos are the strongest evidence for a transit-damage claim.
Keep the packaging until you've installed
Don't bin the carton, foam ends or wrap until the blind is up and tested. If anything needs to go back, original packaging is what makes that workable.
More on dispatch, tracking and delivery
- It depends on the production queue and your location. Made-to-measure means we build to your dimensions, so lead time varies. We confirm the expected timing at order and again when your kit dispatches.
- Yes. When the kit ships, you'll get a dispatch email with the courier's tracking link. You can follow it from dispatch to delivery.
- Couriers won't usually leave long packages without authority. Best options: set up an authority-to-leave with the courier, redirect to a workplace, or arrange a delivery day you know you'll be home. Get in touch on 08 8359 5935 if you need to coordinate.
- Photograph the carton before opening if there's visible damage. Photograph the contents too. Then call us on 08 8359 5935 with your order number and the photos — same-day is best. We'll work through replacement or repair options.
- Sometimes — depends on where your order is in the build and whether it's already dispatched. Contact us as soon as you know. If it's already with the courier, you may be able to redirect through their tracking link directly.
- Freight responsibility on returns depends on the reason. Warranty and transit-damage cases are handled differently from change-of-mind. See the warranty page for the full picture — exact terms are confirmed at order.
- DIY kits ship Australia-wide. International shipping isn't part of the standard offer — get in touch if you have a specific case and we'll let you know what's possible.
- Yes. Keep the carton flat, off the floor, and out of direct heat or sun. Don't stack heavy items on top — the tracks are aluminium and the fabric is rolled. If you're waiting a few weeks before install, the kit will be fine; longer than that, get in touch.
