How to charge the motor
Your motorised blackout blind ships fully charged from our factory. A single charge typically runs 6 to 9 months, and we recommend a top-up every 4 months to keep the battery healthy. The USB-C charging cable lives in the back of the side track.
The short answer
The motorised blackout blind uses a Motolux 28mm DC USB-rechargeable motor. It arrives fully charged from the MAB factory, so you can install and run it straight away.
A blind typically runs 6 to 9 months between charges. To protect the battery’s health, recharge it every 4 months. The clear sign it needs charging is when the blind won’t travel all the way to the top or bottom on a single push of the remote button.
When you charge, use only the supplied charger and cable and leave it connected for at least 6 to 8 hours. If anything doesn’t match what you’re seeing, call DIY support on 08 8359 5935.
How to charge
Four-step charge

Find the charging cable in the side track
The USB-C charging cable is located in the back of the side track — not on the head rail. Ease it out from behind the track so you have enough length to reach the motor.

Connect the supplied charger and cable
Plug the USB-C cable into the motor and connect the supplied charger. Use only the supplied charger and cable — they're matched to the motor and protect the battery.

Charge for at least 6 to 8 hours
Leave the motor on charge for a minimum of 6 to 8 hours so the battery reaches a full charge. A shorter top-up won't give you the full 6 to 9 months of run time.

Tuck the cable back into the side track
Once charged, unplug and tuck the USB-C cable back into the back of the side track so it's tidy and out of sight. You're set for the next stretch of use.

Recharge every 4 months
Even though a charge lasts 6 to 9 months, a top-up every 4 months keeps the battery in good health over the long run. Set a reminder so it never slips.
Watch for the travel-limit sign
The clearest signal it's time to charge is when the blind won't reach all the way to the top or bottom on a single press of the remote button. When that happens, put it on charge.
Always use the supplied charger and cable
Only ever charge with the supplied charger and cable. They're matched to the motor, so keep them together and store the cable in the back of the side track where it lives.
