“Best decision we made. The whole room actually goes dark.”
- Day naps in a properly dark room.
- No cords, no chains, nothing beside the cot.
- Quiet enough not to wake a sleeping baby.
- 5am summer sunrise stops being the alarm clock.
Before
AfterThe nursery problem
When the room still glows,
the nap doesn't last.
Streetlights creep in around the sides. The early sun cuts in over the top. Standard blockout blinds darken the fabric and stop there — the edges are where most of the light gets through. By the time you've tried foil on the glass, blankets pinned over the curtain rod or towels stuffed into the gaps, the room still isn't truly dark. And the moment light comes back in, so does an early wake-up.
- Streetlights and porch lights creep in around the sides of standard blinds.
- The early sun cuts in over the top of the roller.
- Summer evenings stay bright past 8pm — bedtime starts before dark does.
- Foil, pinned blankets and towels in the gaps still leave a glowing edge.
- The moment light comes back in, so does the early wake-up.
Watch the nursery actually go dark.
No dimmer. No mood lighting. The same window in the same room — open, then sealed. Drop the blind, kill the light.
Built around the whole window, not just over the fabric.
Each nursery system is custom-made for the opening. The blind is one part — side tracks, a top pelmet and a sealed bottom rail do the rest, closing the gaps standard blockout blinds leave behind.

Channels hold both edges of the blind.

How our blinds stack up against a standard roller.
Both are blinds. Only one is built around the whole window — side tracks, pelmet, bottom rail.

Nursery scenarios
One nursery, every sleep of the day.
A nursery does more sleep shifts than any other room in the house — morning naps, midday naps, 6:30 bedtimes and the long night stretch. The system holds the same dark through all of them.
- Day naps that last
Midday brightness stays outside. At nap time the room reads night-time, even in the middle of January.
- Bedtime before sunset
Summer evenings stay bright past 8pm. The routine starts when you say it does, not when the sun goes down.
- Nothing beside the cot
No chains, cords or loops. The blind moves by remote, so there's nothing hanging within reach.
- Quiet enough for sleepers
Lower the blind from the doorway, quietly, without standing over the cot or reaching across the change table.
- Streetlights, sealed out
Porch lights, security lights and street glow leak around ordinary blinds. Side tracks close those edges.
- Scheduled for the routine
Add SmartHub and the blind can close 15 minutes before bedtime, every night, on its own.
The system is built to last well beyond the nursery years — the same blind keeps working as the room becomes a toddler's, then a kid's.
Quick answers.
- MAB uses a cordless motorised design. There are no exposed chains, beaded cords or operating loops — the blind opens and closes by remote. That removes a common safety concern in nurseries and family bedrooms.
- Yes. The system is designed for 100% blackout by closing the edges around the window, not just darkening the fabric. The result is a much darker room for day naps and early mornings. We don't claim this will make a baby sleep longer — that depends on your routine — but the room itself will be darker.
- No. The blind uses a rechargeable battery motor charged via USB-C — there's no hardwiring required for a standard nursery setup.
- Yes, if your window is suitable and you're comfortable measuring carefully. Start with the window suitability check, then the measuring guide, before ordering. DIY kits ship Australia-wide with setup support included.
- In most cases, yes. The motorised blackout range starts at around 530 mm wide and 300 mm tall. If your nursery window is smaller or an unusual shape, send measurements and a photo and the team will check fit before you order.
- Yes — a dual blind system pairs a blackout blind with a sheer for daytime privacy and softer light. Dual setups generally need a deeper reveal (around 90 mm at the top). Check window suitability first.
- The motor is designed for bedroom use — quiet enough to operate without disturbing nearby sleep. We don't publish specific decibel figures, but if motor sound is a particular concern for your nursery, mention it at the measure and quote so we can walk through how it sounds in person.

What our customers say.
“Wish we had done it sooner. Now the little one can get a good sleep and it helps keep her room cooler in summer months. John and the team were great to deal with and we look forward to having you back to finish off our home.”
“Easy install, quick delivery and awesome customer service. Nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend this product and company.”
“Very easy to install and they look amazing. We have just ordered more for our other bedrooms. A++”
“John at Midnight Anytime Blinds was great — really happy with the customer service provided and the blinds are awesome. We're ordering more for other bedrooms we love them so much.”
“Highly recommended. Fair pricing, excellent customer service and fantastic product.”
“I first got in touch with John, who clearly explained all the details and was extremely professional. The blinds arrived after a few weeks, and converting my existing blinds to motorised ones was incredibly easy. The rail quality is excellent, and everything works perfectly — no light coming through at all. He also provides aftercare service which I thought was good.”

Not sure your nursery window will work?
Reveal-mount fit generally needs at least 70 mm of top depth for a single blackout blind, or 90 mm for a dual setup, plus around 30 mm of side clearance and 20 mm at the front edge. If you're unsure — odd shape, shallow reveal, handles or winders in the way — send a photo with rough measurements and the team will confirm before you order.
