A sliding door
is a wall of light.
A sliding glass door is one of the biggest single openings in the house, and every part of it lets in light. Curtains across a door bunch up at one end, leave a gap where the panels meet, and get in the way every time you use the door. A standard blind is built for a window, not a two-to-three-metre span — and it still leaks light down the sides and along the bottom. So the room with the nice big door is often the room you can't get dark. And whatever covers the door can't stop the door working — it still has to slide.

Patio sliders, stackers, balcony doors off a bedroom — the biggest glass in the house is usually the hardest to darken. The system scales to the opening.
- Patio and two-panel sliders
The most common job: with enough depth in front of the panel, the system covers the opening and the door slides as normal.
- Bedroom balcony doors
A bedroom with a glass door has to go properly dark. The system seals it like any bedroom window.
- Stackers and wide spans
Two or more blinds side by side, each on its own remote channel, measured to the opening.
- Privacy after dark
Once the outside lights come on, a glass wall works both ways. Closed edges keep the room private.

- Often, with a closer check. Sliding doors need at least 90 mm of reveal depth in front of the sliding panel, so the blind, side tracks and pelmet sit clear of the door's operation. Send photos of the door and the surrounding reveal and we'll confirm.
- It depends on reveal depth, width, height and any obstructions like handles, winders or locks. As a guide: a single blackout system usually needs at least 70 mm of reveal depth at the top, with 30 mm side clearance and 20 mm at the front edge. Dual systems usually need at least 90 mm. Widths run 530–3,000 mm and heights run 300–3,000 mm. If you're unsure, use the Window Suitability guide or send us a photo and we'll confirm before you order.
- The MAB framed system is designed to cut the light leaks that standard roller and blockout blinds leave around the sides, top and bottom of the window. Whether the result feels like total darkness depends on your window, the reveal depth, and how carefully it's measured and installed. Most customers find it far darker than anything they've used before. Use the window suitability guide before ordering to confirm the system will work for your window.
- The blackout blind sits between two side tracks that run the full height of the window. A pelmet at the top covers the roller mechanism and closes the gap above the fabric. A sealed bottom rail meets the windowsill. Light usually gets in around the edges of a normal blind. The MAB frame covers those edges. The fabric does its job; the frame does the harder job of closing the gaps.

Every sliding door gets a fit check first.
The framed system sits in front of the sliding panel, so the reveal needs around 90 mm of depth in front of the door for the blind, side tracks and pelmet to clear the panel as it moves — plus a little side clearance and somewhere solid to fix the frame. Standard two-panel doors usually have the room; stacker doors, bi-folds and tight architraves need a closer look.
