BLACKOUT

Light leak diagnosis

If the room isn't as dark as you'd like, the leak almost always sits at one of four predictable edges. Walk these in order.

Step by step

How it works

  1. 01

    Top edge

Stand inside, blind fully down, lights off. Check the gap between the head rail and the window frame. The pelmet should cover this fully. If not, re-seat the pelmet or shim the bracket.

  2. 02

    Bottom edge

The bottom rail should rest flush against the sill or the floor. If you can see a thin line of light along the bottom, the lower limit needs adjusting. See the pairing article for the limit reset procedure.

  3. 03

    Side tracks

Run a finger down the side tracks. The fabric should sit inside the channel, not riding the front lip. If light pulls through, the track is bowed or the bracket alignment shifted during install.

  4. 04

    Fabric body

If light comes through the fabric itself (rare), confirm you have a blackout fabric not a translucent. The order summary in the portal shows what you ordered.

Common questions

  • Temperature swings can shift alignment slightly. Loosen the bracket, push the track flush against the reveal wall, retighten.
  • If the pelmet is correctly installed and there's still a gap, the reveal depth may not match standard. Send a photo through the share page and we'll work out the right fix.
